Are you interested in work in higher education? Well then this might be just the fit for you. The Sac State Basic Needs Resource Center supports students facing food and housing insecurity. You will learn about basic needs programs for college students, be able to support daily operations of the center, learn about program development, research and program evaluation. You may also have exposure to grant writing and management.
By the end of the internship you will learn about working in higher education, the developing landscape of basic needs programs and supports within the CSU system and at Sac State, and gain experience working in a busy college campus basic needs center within the integrated system of Student Health, Counseling and Wellness Services.
Training related to working in an integrated system of healthcare on a college campus. Training about working in an accredited health center. Communication skills training. Training about operating a Basic Needs Resource Center on a college campus. Training about food and housing insecurity programs at Sac State. Tabling and outreach skill development training. Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) and mentoring and professional development from MSW/LCSW and other CARES Case Managers and Basic Needs professional staff.
No COVID vaccination requirements. PPD testing is required for tuberculosis is required within first 2 weeks of placement and is offered at the campus health center at no additional cost. Flu vaccines are offered at no cost and if the student does not elect to receive flu vaccine then masking when on site will be required based on CDPH Flu masking dates ordered; typically mid November through mid April each year.
