PR InternAt — MGPR
The PR Intern supports day-to-day public relations and creative initiatives for MGPR’s lifestyle, wellness, hospitality, and consumer brand clients. This role assists with media research, press list building, pitching support, trend monitoring, and event prep, while gaining hands-on exposure to modern PR, influencer strategy, and brand storytelling in a fast-paced agency environment.
Tasks:
Students will perform professional, pre-professional PR duties that directly support MGPR’s client work and demonstrate mastery of the stated learning outcomes. Responsibilities include:
Researching, sourcing, and maintaining targeted media, journalist, brand, and influencer contact lists for active PR campaigns
Drafting and editing PR materials such as media pitches, press releases, campaign briefs, talking points, and outreach emails
Supporting pitching efforts by identifying timely angles, tracking outreach, and organizing media responses and coverage
Conceptualizing PR and experiential campaign ideas through client brainstorming sessions, trend analysis, and competitive research
Assisting with influencer and brand partnership outreach, including identifying aligned partners and preparing collaboration proposals
Editing and refining written content, client-facing documents, and internal strategy decks for clarity, tone, and accuracy
Monitoring media coverage, social trends, and cultural moments relevant to client positioning and pitching opportunities
Assisting with event planning and execution when applicable, including vendor research, media invites, and recap documentation
Organizing PR assets, coverage reports, and campaign trackers to support reporting and evaluation of results
These responsibilities are substantive, strategic, and professional in nature, ensuring the majority of the student’s work aligns with college-level expectations for academic credit while providing real-world PR agency experience.
Training:
Students will receive structured, hands-on training designed to support clear learning outcomes and professional growth. This includes an initial agency orientation covering MGPR’s workflow, client roster, tools, expectations, and PR best practices. Ongoing training consists of weekly team meetings and individual check-ins to review assignments, provide feedback, and contextualize tasks within broader campaign strategies. Interns will receive guided instruction on media research, press list building, pitching support, and trend analysis, along with access to real work samples and past campaigns. When schedules allow, in-person meetings and job shadowing opportunities will further reinforce learning through direct observation of client work, events, and agency operations.
Learning Outcome:
By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to:
Research and build targeted media lists aligned with specific brand goals, audiences, and editorial angles.
Draft professional PR materials—including pitches, press releases, and briefing documents—using clear, strategic storytelling.
Support and understand the execution of PR campaigns across press, social, influencer, and experiential activations.
Analyze media coverage, social performance, and campaign results to evaluate PR effectiveness and ROI.
Demonstrate professional agency skills, including client communication etiquette, deadline management, and collaborative teamwork in a fast-paced environment.
