Research Assistant-Prof. Do Kyeong LeeAt — CSUF - College of Health and Human Development
The Research Assistant will support ongoing research projects in the Motor Behavior Lab focused on human motor development. Responsibilities include video coding, data collection during lab visits, assisting with data management, and participating in weekly lab meetings. Interns will gain hands-on experience in research methods, data analysis, and professional research practices under faculty supervision.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the internship, students will be able to:
Accurately code behavioral data from video recordings using standardized research protocols.
Assist with data collection during laboratory visits following ethical and professional research practices.
Manage and organize research data with attention to accuracy, confidentiality, and reproducibility.
Demonstrate an understanding of research methods used in motor development studies.
Communicate research progress and challenges effectively during lab meetings and team discussions.
Training
Structured onboarding and protocol training, including step-by-step instruction on video coding procedures and lab workflows.
Hands-on supervised practice, where students complete video coding and lab tasks with real-time feedback.
Regular lab meetings, focused on reviewing coding decisions, discussing research methods, and addressing questions or challenges.
Ongoing performance feedback and reliability checks, to ensure accuracy and consistency in data coding.
Progressive responsibility, allowing students to take on more complex tasks as skills and confidence develop.
