Physical Therapy AideAt — Davis and DeRosa Physical Therapy
Assist physical therapists and staff in providing outpatient care by preparing treatment areas, setting up equipment, and supporting patients during exercises. Maintain cleanliness, follow safety and HIPAA protocols, and demonstrate professional behavior while gaining hands-on exposure to clinical practice and patient care.
Tasks:
Clean and organize treatment areas and equipment
Assist PTs and PTAs during treatment sessions
Set up and remove exercise and modality equipment
Monitor patients during activities and report concerns
Maintain clinic cleanliness and infection control standards
Follow HIPAA, safety policies, and clinic procedures
Demonstrate professional behavior and communication
Training:
To help the intern achieve the proposed learning outcomes, I will provide structured clinical exposure in an
outpatient physical therapy setting; model professional behavior and effective communication; offer super-
vised opportunites to observe and assist with appropriate clinical tasks; ensure education on safety, infection
control, and clinical policies; and encourage regular reflection and discussion regarding clinical experiences
and career development with physical therapy.
Learning Outcome:
1. Describe the role, scope of practice, and professional responsibilites of physical therapist in an outpatient clinical setting
2. Demonstrate appropriate professional communication, ethical behavior, and interpersonal skills when interacting with patients, families and staff
3. Identify and explain common diagnoses, therapeutic exercises and treatment techniques used in PT through observation and supervised participation
4. Apply principals of safety, infection control, and proper use to support a safe clinical environment
5. Evaluate and reflect on clinical experiences to assess interest in physical therapy careers.
