Opportunity Summary 

Clerk provides both clerical and administrative support to the Paralegals, Case Managers, and Attorney. They also serve as a point of contact for the clients of the firm.

Tasks:

  • Students will perform clerical and administrative duties in support of attorneys, paralegals, and case managers. Tasks include preparing and organizing legal documents, maintaining electronic and physical case files, and assisting with data entry and record keeping.
  • Students will serve as a point of contact for clients by answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, relaying messages, and providing general case status updates under supervision. They may assist with client intake forms and follow-up communications while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Additional responsibilities include organizing correspondence, scanning and filing documents, assisting with case preparation, and supporting day-to-day office operations. All tasks are designed to develop professional skills, legal office competency, and an understanding of law firm procedures.

Training:

  • Students will receive a structured onboarding and ongoing training throughout the placement to support their learning outcomes. Training will begin with a mandatory general orientation covering office procedures, confidentiality requirements, client communication standards, and basic legal terminology.
  • Students will receive hands-on training from supervising staff, including job shadowing with paralegals, case managers, and attorneys to observe daily workflows and case handling processes. Ongoing guidance will be provided through regular check-ins and task-specific instruction.
  • Training will include demonstrations of document preparation, file management systems, and client intake procedures. Students will be given sample work, written instructions, and real-time feedback to ensure accuracy, professionalism, and skill development.
