Opportunity Summary 

Program leader for before and after school programs

A Camp Fire Program Leader plans and facilitates engaging, age-appropriate activities—such as outdoor education, STEM, and arts—for youth in afterschool or camp settings. They ensure a safe, inclusive environment, supervise participants, foster positive development, and maintain communication with families and staff.

Key Responsibilities
Activity Planning & Execution: Design and lead hands-on activities focusing on nature, STEM, and creative arts.
Youth Development & Supervision: Actively supervise groups of 10-20 students, fostering social-emotional growth and building self-confidence.
Safety & Compliance: Maintain a safe environment by adhering to COVID-19 protocols, child abuse prevention, and emergency procedures.
Mentorship: Serve as a positive role model, encouraging teamwork, inclusivity, and skill-building.
Communication: Maintain regular communication with site coordinators, parents, and staff.
Desired Qualifications
Experience: Previous experience in camp, youth development, or recreation settings.
Education:Obtaining Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, education, or a related field preferred.
Skills: Strong leadership, creativity, and communication skills.
Certifications: CPR/First Aid certification is often required.

Learning Outcome:

By the end of the academic internship students will be able to understand protocols within school setting for the state of California. Understand social emotional learning skills and tactics. Provide thorough explanation of PBIS systems and structures that include classroom management and behavioral management on all levels.
