Intervention InternAt — Neutral Ground
Neutral Ground staff/intern serves as a liaison between youth, adults, and the community to minimize risky/problematic behavior and improve community relations. NG staff strengthens ties to the local community and existing relationships while being familiar with the culture of the target community.
Tasks:
Interns will aid in mediations between students, aid in small group restorative circles, conduct one-on-one check-ins with caseload students, document interactions in their case notes, document interventions on Aeries, and interact with school staff and NG staff throughout the day. Interns will not be left alone with clients school staff will be with intern.
Training;
Interns will receive a general orientation, workshops on check-ins and mediations, daily check-ins with a supervisor, and job shadowing opportunities.
Learning Outcome:
By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to facilitate girls', boys', and YVP restorative circles, aid in mediating student conflicts, work with school staff to better support the students on their caseload, and keep track of difficulties and progress of students by documenting case notes.
