By the end of this experience, students will be able to: Describe the Emergency Department workflow and patient flow. Identify roles within the interdisciplinary healthcare team. Explain triage and rapid patient assessment. Recognize effective communication and prioritization in patient care. Observe common emergency conditions and clinical decision-making. Demonstrate understanding of professional and ethical behavior. Evaluate personal interest in a healthcare or emergency services career.
Students will be observed and assessed for training needs during their shifts. Training will be administered on an individual needs basis.
Students must follow all hospital safety policies, including infection control procedures, hand hygiene, and use of personal protective equipment when required. Students are limited to observation only, must maintain patient confidentiality at all times, and must immediately report any safety concerns to the charge nurse or supervising staff. Participation may be restricted in high-risk situations to ensure student and patient safety.
