Opportunity Summary 

Astron Electronics is a manufacturers’ representative firm specializing in electronic components and solutions for a wide range of industries. We partner with leading manufacturers to connect customers with innovative products and technical expertise.

We are seeking a motivated Sales Engineer to support our team with sales development, market research, and marketing initiatives. This role is ideal for a student interested in gaining hands-on experience in business development, sales operations, and B2B marketing within the electronics industry.

The intern will work closely with our team to help expand our outreach efforts, support customer engagement, and contribute to ongoing marketing initiatives.

Tasks:

Responsibilities will include:

Conducting prospective customer research to identify companies that may benefit from the manufacturers and products represented by Astron Electronics.

Identifying and documenting key contacts and decision-makers within potential customer organizations.

Assisting with outreach initiatives, including drafting introductory emails and participating in initial customer contact efforts.

Maintaining and organizing customer and prospect information within the company CRM to support accurate business records.

Researching industry trade shows, conferences, and technical events relevant to the electronic components industry.

Assisting with maintaining the company’s online industry events calendar by identifying and documenting relevant events.

Supporting marketing and promotional activities, including assisting with content ideas and outreach initiatives.

Observing and assisting with customer communication processes, including responding to general inquiries or routing requests to appropriate team members.

Assisting with general sales support tasks, such as preparing information, gathering data for outreach, and organizing business development resources.

These tasks are designed to provide exposure to business development, sales operations, marketing support, and professional communication in a real-world B2B environment.

Training:

Students will receive structured onboarding and ongoing mentorship to support their learning and professional development throughout the internship.

Training will include:

Initial Orientation

Introduction to Astron Electronics, the manufacturers’ representative business model, and the electronic components industry

Overview of the company’s product lines, manufacturers, and customer base

Explanation of company workflows, communication practices, and professional expectations

Sales & CRM Training

Instruction on how to conduct professional lead research using LinkedIn, company websites, and industry resources

Training on how customer and prospect data is organized and maintained within the company CRM

Guidance on identifying key decision-makers and relevant contacts within organizations

Professional Communication Training

Review of outreach email structure and best practices for B2B communication

Exposure to cold calling strategies and professional phone communication

Examples of past outreach efforts and messaging strategies

Mentorship & Ongoing Development

Regular one-on-one check-ins with the internship supervisor to review progress, provide feedback, and answer questions

Context and explanation for assigned projects to ensure the student understands how tasks contribute to overall business objectives

Review of completed work and discussion of improvements or alternative approaches

Students will be encouraged to ask questions, observe real-world business processes, and progressively take on more responsibility as they develop confidence and familiarity with the work. Permanent Job Opportunity is available.

Learning Outcome:

By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to:

Conduct targeted B2B lead research by identifying potential customers, key decision makers, and relevant companies within the electronics and technology industries.

Develop and execute professional outreach communications, including cold emails and introductory phone calls, while demonstrating effective business communication techniques.

Analyze and organize sales and customer data within a CRM system to support business development efforts and improve internal record accuracy.

Research and evaluate industry events, trade shows, and conferences to identify opportunities for business development and marketing exposure.

Support marketing and customer engagement initiatives by contributing to digital outreach efforts, event promotion, and customer communication processes.
