Opportunity Summary 

Rapid Response Defense Systems is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accountant Intern to join our finance team for a structured summer internship. This role provides hands-on experience in accounts receivable, accounts payable, month-end close, and government contracting compliance in a fast-paced, CMMC 2.0-compliant defense environment. You will work directly with the CFO and gain exposure to QuickBooks, government invoicing (WAWF/IPP), and internal controls.

Tasks:

- Process accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions – Post customer payments, prepare and validate standard customer invoices, perform triple-match (PO → Receiving → Invoice), code vendor invoices, resolve discrepancies with Purchasing and Receiving, scan/attach supporting documentation, and execute government invoice packaging and portal uploads (WAWF/IPP)

- Perform reconciliations and month-end support – Complete bank, credit card, and vendor statement reconciliations; prepare month-end journal entries and supporting analyses for the CFO; produce weekly AR aging reports and other leadership reports

- Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve operational issues – Work directly with Purchasing, Receiving, Warehouse, Operations, and Sales teams to investigate and correct invoice, PO, and receiving mismatches; communicate professionally with vendors and customers; support deliverables verification for government contracts.

Training:

- Weekly O3 Meetings with the CFO
- Job Shadowing of AR/AP, Government Invoicing, and Reconciliation Workflows
- Provision of Work Samples, Templates, and SOPs
- Contextual Overview of Every Assigned Task and Its Impact on Contract Compliance
