Opportunity Summary 

Sol Treasures is seeking a creative and community-minded intern to help expand our social media presence through storytelling, interviews, photography, and video content. This is an exciting hands-on opportunity for students interested in media, communications, marketing, filmmaking, journalism, or community arts engagement.

The intern will help create promotional content for upcoming events, film and edit interviews, capture live event footage, and work alongside staff to develop engaging social media campaigns and creative promotional materials. Projects to interviewing local artists, community members, and public officials about what they love about Sol Treasures and the impact arts programming has in South Monterey County.

Interns may attend and help document programs including Backyard Concerts, Backyard Yoga, Mosaic Classes, Filmmaking Workshops, theater events, gallery exhibits, and community celebrations. This is an opportunity to build real-world media experience while connecting with the local community and helping promote an important creative resource in King City.

Opportunity Training 

This internship provides a hands-on learning environment where students gain experience by actively participating in real-world projects, evaluating results, and applying what they learn to future opportunities. Interns will work directly with Sol Treasures staff on social media promotion, event coverage, interviews, and creative content development while building practical communication and media skills.

The internship is designed to be a supportive, low-risk environment where students are encouraged to share ideas, experiment creatively, and develop confidence through experience and feedback. Students will learn about nonprofit arts promotion, community engagement, storytelling, and public outreach while helping promote meaningful programs and events throughout South Monterey County.

Interns will receive guidance and mentorship throughout the process while having the opportunity to contribute creatively and develop a stronger understanding of how media and storytelling can positively impact a community.

Opportunity Supervision

Ongoing support will be provided through regular communication, daily check-ins, and direct collaboration with Sol Treasures staff. Interns will participate in brief meetings to discuss current projects, review goals, identify challenges, and receive guidance on upcoming assignments and scheduling.

Staff will help interns organize priorities, develop content plans, coordinate event coverage, and troubleshoot creative or technical questions as they arise. Interns will receive ongoing feedback and mentorship throughout the experience while being encouraged to contribute ideas and explore their own creative approaches.

Because this internship is highly hands-on and community-based, support will occur naturally through active participation, collaboration, and real-time learning opportunities during events, interviews, promotional planning, and social media content creation. The goal is to create a supportive environment where interns feel comfortable asking questions, experimenting creatively, and building confidence through practice and experience.

Students should email a brief introduction describing their interests in media, storytelling, social media, filmmaking, or community arts engagement. Experience with photography, video editing, social media, or event promotion is helpful but not required. A resume or samples of creative work are welcomed but optional.

Selected students may participate in a short informal interview to discuss scheduling and responsibilities.
