Farm Discovery at Live Earth is a nonprofit organization working in the Pajaro Valley community to empower youth and families to build and sustain healthy food, farming, social and natural systems.
Our home, Live Earth Farm, is a 150 acre patchwork of working organic farm, riparian corridor, oak and redwood forest in the Pajaro Valley of Santa Cruz County, California.

In this opportunity, you'll prepare beds, plant, harvest, and propagate strawberries, tomatoes, greens, and squashes; mulch paths; and occasionally work with students in our educational spaces all with help and training from our Field Manager. Learn to grow food that supports our community through nutrition education and meal and pantry programs.

Requirements:
- Background Check (e.g. fingerprinting/livescan, driving record)
- Must be 18 or older
- Bilingual Desired
- Own transportation to/from farm in Watsonville
Orientation to Farm Discovery’s mission. Student will work one on one with the Farm Discovery Field Manager to learn harvesting, planting, propagation, irrigation and more.
Opportunity Supervision
Direct mentorship from Field staff with bi-weekly progress meetings and on-call support during program.
KNOWN HAZARDS: This placement requires working with hazardous materials, heavy equipment, construction equipment, heights, or heavy machinery.
Students will work with non-motorized farming implements like hoes, shovels, broadforks, and wheelbarrows.
