Editorial InternAt — Los Angeles Magazine

Opportunity Summary 

Editorial Intern - will be responsible for writing and pitching stories for publication on our website and in some rare instances print publication as well.

Tasks:

Main tasks of editorial interns include taking story assignment suggestions from supervising editors and writing stories based on those suggestions. They will also be encouraged to pitch stories that they find and think would be appropriate for the site to be approved or modified by their supervising editors.

Training:

Student will begin with Zoom orientation at start of internship.

Student will communicate on a daily basis with supervisor and free to meet as needed.

The student will be trained on our website backend to enable them to write stories that they are either assigned or have pitched and had approved by their supervising editors, they will have their finished stories edited by their supervising editors and will receive feedback on things that are done outside of our standards or need to be changed before the stories are published to our website or sometimes in the print publication.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to write editorial stories in the style of Los Angeles Magazine. They will be assigned stories to write as well as being encouraged to pitch stories to their supervisor that they think are a good fit for the site to be approved or modified by their supervising editors.
