Recreation Leader IIAt — City of Anaheim
Assist in running after school programs and other events held by the city of Anaheim. This position will require insight into child psychology, customer service, and leadership capabilities. This position is entry level.
Tasks:
Throughout the internship, the student will have the participants engage in preselected crafts and activities for participant enrichment. Eventually they will be able to create their own activities for enrichment. Interns will be engaging with participants directly through games and sports, while mitigating any conflicts that might occur between participants. Interns will be running and assisting with City of Anaheim Youth program locations.
Training:
Interns will experience daily feedback depending on situations that unravel during the day. There will also be mandatory training on safety laws and how to best interact with our participants. Safety procedures will be incorporated into our staff meetings. Another staff will also be provided at sites to provide feedback in the moment.
Learning outcome:
By the end of the internship, the student should be able to create tasks and activities that promote educational growth and engagement in our participants. Interns should also be able to manage and mediate conflicts along with developing interpersonal communication skills. Interns should able be able to demonstrate a well-developed understanding of child psychology.
