Community Food Pantry InternAt — Solidarity

Opportunity Summary 

The Pantry Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Solidarity’s food pantry. This role ensures a welcoming and efficient distribution process, maintains inventory, and supports participants with dignity and care.  This individual  must be fluent in spanish.

We are looking for 2 interns at 10  hours per week that would split the schedule listedd below, or 1 intern that has availabllity and a neeed for 20 hours per week. 

Tasks:

1. Pantry Operations
-Oversee pantry operations during open hours
-Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming space
-Set up and close down pantry operations
2. Client Coordination
-Schedule and manage participant appointments
-Support a smooth and respectful shopping experience
3. Inventory Management
-Track inventory levels and usage
-Organize storage and maintain proper food rotation
-Notify Program Manager of supply needs
-Pick up food from food Banks, local Churches, or other Donation locations.

Training:

1. Intern Orientation: gain an undderstanding of Solidarity's history in the communities we serve andd how we implement community development principles.
2. Trauma Informed Programing: How to serve a community or individuals through a trauma informed lens that creates a safe space for care and resources to be given.
3. Food Pantry logistics: How to implement the food pantry program that addeqitely meets the communitie's needs, and keep necessary information and records.

Learning Outcome:

1. Gain understanding of how food insecurity affects immigrant communities in Orange County
2. Increase experience with community development work and how local non-profits address changing needs within the communities they serve.
3. Gain experience with organizing a community food program, asessing resident needs through case management, and connecting them to resources and partners in an effective way.
4. Gain understanding of how political and legislative decesions have a real world affect on immigrant populations in Orange county.

Student be working in a high-crime area:

1. Will not be required to work after hours
2. Gang Affiliated neighborhood
3. Private parking lot with esignated spots and lights.
4. Interns will never be left alone at night.
