Opportunity Summary 

We are seeking a motivated and organized Community Event Coordinator Intern to support the planning and execution of our event programming. This role will work closely with the Event Director and Board Members to help bring meaningful, inclusive events to life.

Tasks:

- Assist with planning and coordinating sensory-friendly and community events.
- Communicate with vendors, volunteers, sponsors, and participants as directed.
- Help create event timelines, checklists, and operational plans.
- Support event registration, attendee tracking, and participant communications.
- Assist with event setup, execution, and breakdown.
- Collect participant feedback and assist with post-event evaluations.
- Help create promotional materials and social media content for upcoming events.
- Maintain event records and support administrative event-related tasks.

Training:

- Initial organizational orientation covering AUsome Sauce’s mission, event objectives, participant demographics, and operational procedures.
- Overview of event planning processes, timelines, logistics, volunteer coordination, and risk management.
- Weekly scheduled one-on-one mentor meetings with the Executive Director or designated supervisor to discuss projects, goals, and professional development.
- Job shadowing opportunities during event planning meetings, vendor coordination, and event execution.
- Training on event registration systems, attendee communication, marketing support, and event documentation.
- Review of previous event plans, budgets, timelines, vendor agreements, and event evaluations.
- Hands-on experience with event preparation and post-event assessment activities.
- Regular feedback and coaching to support achievement of learning objectives.

Learning Outcome:

- Apply event planning and coordination principles by assisting in the development, organization, and execution of inclusive community and sensory-friendly events.
- Demonstrate professional communication skills through interactions with volunteers, vendors, sponsors, participants, and community partners.
- Develop project management and organizational skills by creating event timelines, managing task lists, and supporting event logistics from planning through completion.
- Understand nonprofit operations and community engagement strategies by participating in outreach efforts and learning how events support AUsome Sauce's mission and fundraising goals.
- Evaluate event effectiveness by collecting participant feedback, assisting with post-event assessments, and identifying opportunities for improvement in future programs and events.
