Children and Youth Liaison InternAt — Latino Health Access

 The intern will actively engage and support youth's socio-emotional health, academic enrichment, recreational activities, leadership development, civic engagement, and policy advocacy. The intern will attend youth group meetings as needed and participate in entering survey data in Google Sheets, finding resources, helping organize materials, and assisting the team in preparing materials for community school events.
 

Tasks:

Assist in preparing information and research materials; create and maintain PowerPoint presentations for the youth groups.
Take notes and memos during meetings; type documents, drafts, and reports; sort and manage files.

Training:

Latino Health Access intern orientation. The supervisor will meet with the intern on a regular basis, including weekly one-on-one check-ins to review progress, discuss goals, provide feedback, and address any questions or challenges. Through direct instruction, observation, hands-on experience, and continuous feedback, the intern will develop practical skills in youth development programming, community engagement, program coordination, data management, and collaborative teamwork.  

Training will begin with an orientation to the organization, its mission, youth development practices, workplace expectations, confidentiality requirements, and safety procedures. The orientation will include an overview of program policies, appropriate interactions with youth, and expectations for maintaining a safe and inclusive environment.

Learning Outcome:

By the end of the academic internship the student will be able to implement presentation on health disparities, engage low income community to lha events and teamwork.
