Mission Statement
Since opening in 2011, the Long Beach Ronald McDonald House has provided comfort, care, and support to children and families in Southern California. The House raises funds to provide a home away from home for families with critically ill children. Everything is provided, from housing to hot meals, so families can focus on their child’s care. Our hope is to create a community where children and their families embrace life and healing with a sense of hope, enthusiasm, courage, and joy by keeping families close to each other and the care they need.
Position Overview
The Community Engagement and Volunteer Management Intern will support the planning, coordination, and execution of volunteer programs and community outreach initiatives. This role provides hands-on experience in nonprofit operations, event coordination, and relationship building while helping create meaningful experiences for volunteers and the families we serve.
This internship is unpaid.

Key Responsibilities
• Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and scheduling volunteers.
• Support volunteer engagement efforts, including communication, recognition, and retention initiatives.
• Help coordinate volunteer activities such as meal programs, group service days, and special events.
• Provide on-site support during volunteer shifts and community events.
• Maintain accurate volunteer records and track service hours.
• Assist with outreach efforts to community partners, schools, and corporate groups.
• Support planning and execution of signature events, such as fundraising walks and community days.
• Help create and distribute marketing materials, emails, and social media content related to volunteer opportunities.
• Gather feedback and assist in evaluating volunteer experiences.
