Youth Program VolunteerAt — Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos

Opportunity Summary

Youth Program Volunteers support Boys & Girls Club programs by assisting with activities, mentoring youth, helping with events, and providing general program support. Responsibilities vary based on the volunteer's skills, experience, interests, availability, and organizational needs. Volunteers serve as positive role models and help create a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for all youth.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes

By the end of their volunteer service, volunteers will have gained an understanding of positive youth development, effective communication with children and teens, appropriate professional boundaries, and the importance of creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment. They will also develop skills in teamwork, mentoring, and supporting youth programs.

Opportunity Training

Before beginning service, all volunteers must complete the Boys & Girls Club onboarding process, which includes a background check, new volunteer orientation, review and acknowledgment of the Volunteer Handbook, and required online training provided through Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA). These steps ensure volunteers understand Club policies, safety procedures, youth protection standards, and their role in supporting a safe and positive environment for youth.
