- Provide direct client care in 1:1 and group settings utilizing a combination of intensive teaching and natural environment training arrangements.
- Follow the prescribed behavioral skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols.
- Follow and record data for prescribed training protocols.
- Collect, record, and summarize data on observable client behavior.
- Utilize safe & appropriate handling procedures when working with clients.
- Maintain client confidentiality.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work and therapy environment.
- Maintain and acquire technical knowledge by attending required trainings.
- Follow company protocol.
- Attend sessions at their scheduled times.
Tasks:
-Measure and record data and keep a log for the clinical team
-Track client progress accurately during sessions
-Teach new communication, social, and daily living skills
-Use structured steps like Discrete Trial Training or Natural Environment Training
-Carry out behavior plans made by a BCBA supervisor
-Use positive reinforcement and safe replacement behaviors
Training:
-Employee Orientation
-RBT training including 40 hours of modules and 25 hours of shadowing
-Weekly mentor overlap and support during 1:1 sessions
-RBT certification training, upon request
-Overview of assigned tasks
Learning Outcome
By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to:
-Identify the function of behavior and implement the appropriate evidence-based strategies to help decrease the maladaptive behavior
-Learn data collection methods
-Collaborate with clinical team and caregivers during the treatment period
