• Educate campus and local communities about reproductive health care services, access, and the importance of safeguarding reproductive rights.
• Actively participate in advocacy events.
• Support engagement with schools and community-based agencies by conducting research into potential new sites and maintaining contact lists
• Use key organizing tactics to help advance PPOSBC and CAF PPOSBC’s advocacy work.
• Provide administrative support as needed.
• Other duties as assigned

Tasks:
o The student will perform primarily professional and pre-professional duties that support the Public Affairs Department's advocacy and civic engagement efforts. Responsibilities include:
\uf0a7 Conduct campus and community outreach to educate individuals about reproductive health care access and reproductive rights.
\uf0a7 Staff informational tables on campus and at community events to distribute educational materials and recruit supporters.
\uf0a7 Support phone banking to engage community members, recruit volunteers, and encourage civic participation.
\uf0a7 Support advocacy campaigns by collecting Community Action Fund sign-ups and assisting with campaign organizing efforts.
\uf0a7 Research and identify campus organizations, community groups, and coalition partners to strengthen outreach efforts.
\uf0a7 Assist with planning and executing outreach events, volunteer activities, and educational presentations.
\uf0a7 Present information in classrooms and other campus settings to increase awareness of reproductive health and civic engagement.
\uf0a7 Attend community meetings, coalition events, and professional development trainings related to advocacy and public affairs.
\uf0a7 Provide administrative support related to outreach, event coordination, data tracking, and campaign activities as needed.
o Over 80% of the internship duties consist of professional or pre-professional work in public affairs, nonprofit advocacy, community organizing, civic engagement, communications, and electoral campaign support, with administrative tasks serving only to support these activities.
Training:
o The student will receive a structured onboarding process followed by ongoing mentorship and professional development throughout the internship. Training will include:
\uf0a7 Initial orientation covering organizational structure, internship expectations, workplace policies, technology setup, and security procedures.
\uf0a7 Training sessions on community organizing, voter outreach, tabling techniques, reproductive health messaging, electoral advocacy, coalition building, and campus engagement strategies.
\uf0a7 Weekly one-on-one meetings with a supervisor to review progress, discuss goals, provide feedback, and address challenges.
\uf0a7 Regular mentorship and coaching through independent work reviews, debriefs following outreach events and phone banks, and guidance on professional development.
\uf0a7 Hands-on experiential learning through tabling, phone banking, community outreach events, coalition meetings, Pride events, and classroom presentations.
\uf0a7 Midpoint check-in to evaluate progress toward learning outcomes, identify areas for growth, and adjust goals as needed.
\uf0a7 Professional development opportunities, including participation in leadership convenings and trainings focused on advocacy, organizing, and public affairs.
Learning Outcome:
o By the end of the internship, the student will be able to:
\uf0a7 Apply community organizing and voter outreach strategies to engage voters in civic participation and the 2026 midterm elections.
\uf0a7 Educate community members about reproductive health care access, reproductive rights, and the impact of federal policy changes on Planned Parenthood services.
\uf0a7 Conduct effective outreach through tabling, classroom presentations, phone banking, and community events.
\uf0a7 Build partnerships with student organizations, campus leaders, and community coalitions to support advocacy initiatives.
\uf0a7 Demonstrate professional communication, leadership, and time management skills while working in a nonprofit public affairs environment.
\uf0a7 Collect and manage Community Action Fund data and support advocacy campaigns using best practices in electoral organizing.
