Advocacy and Development InternAt — Alliance to End Gun Violence
Under the direction of internship coordinator, the student intern will assist with the planning, implementation, coordination and evaluation of gun violence prevention events and activities throughout San Diego. Activities will include researching policy, distributing educational materials, tabling local events, media/public relations initiatives, art projects, networking with youth groups, preparing political candidates for Alliance candidate endorsement, and supporting Alliance committees. Community participation and outreach is paramount for the intern to fully contribute to the needs of our organization.
Communicate with community partners Create communication and education materials Assist with Alliance event planning Attend monthly meetings and GVP events Light data entry and analysis Researching policies, legislation and political candidates Provide support for ongoing projects Establish and expand Alliance social media presence
The student will be under the direct supervision and training of team leaders, including communication, legislation and advocacy, education, political action and youth engagement. With each project, the student will undergo an initial training period consisting of meetings and on the job training over a several day period.
Student will need their own transportation to attend monthly meetings and to participate in events.
