Work in an educational setting with preschoolers

Work in a Title 22 child care setting: Implementing health and safety protocols

Assisting with food preparation, meal patterns, and meal service.

Clean, sanitize, and disinfect the classroom environment environment pertaining to Title 22 and Los Angeles Public Health Department. 

Build Positive Relationships between Teachers and Infant/Toddlers- Fostering the child's emotional well-being by demonstrating respect and  creating a positive emotional climate.

Being culturally responsive and using relevant approaches with infants, including listening to infants/toddlers with attention and respect for their differing needs, physical and emotional cues, and backgrounds. 

Conduct teacher directed activities that are developmentally appropriate for preschoolers. Lesson and activities are based on the whole child (cognitive, physical, social-emotional domains) and fosters the children's interests, needs, and abilities. 

Supervise young child by sight and sound. 

Tasks:

Support children's development by assisting them in their developing social skills (entering into play, building relationships, sustaining and enhancing play)
Having intern review health and safety protocols and providing this individual an opportunity to implement during their shift.
By having weekly meetings with Lead Teacher/Mentor to discuss DAP plans and activities.

Training:

Lead Teacher will mentor and guide intern on a daily basis.
Lead Teacher will review classroom expectations and classroom routine with intern.
Lead Teacher will foster a positive learning environment for intern to ask questions and provide input pertaining to the child(ren) and overall classroom environment.
Intern with the guidance of mentor will plan and lead classroom activities that are developmentally appropriate and encompassing the domains: emotional, physical, cognitive, and social

Learning Outcome:

By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to....
1) To individualize for each child by understanding their stage of development and developmental milestones.
2) Plan activities according to the group(s) interest, needs, and abilities.
3) Understand the Health and Safety protocols pertaining to Title 22 Community Care Licensing.
