Opportunity Summary 

Activity Description

College Corps Fellows will work directly with community members to improve financial stability, educational success, and access to critical services. Fellows may facilitate workshops, support Financial Empowerment Center clients, assist with VITA tax preparation, conduct outreach, coordinate referrals, and contribute to program evaluation and community impact initiatives.

Qualities, Skills, and Interests

United Way Monterey County is looking for Fellows who are passionate about serving their community and helping individuals and families achieve greater financial stability and economic mobility. Successful Fellows are empathetic, dependable, curious, and comfortable working with people from diverse backgrounds and life experiences.

Strong communication skills, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are important. We welcome students from a variety of academic disciplines, including business, accounting, economics, public health, social work, education, psychology, public administration, communications, and related fields.

Fellows should be interested in community engagement, financial empowerment, education, health equity, data and evaluation, or nonprofit leadership. Spanish language skills are highly valued but not required. Above all, we are seeking students who are eager to make a meaningful difference while gaining hands-on experience addressing the root causes of poverty and financial hardship in Monterey County.
