Youth & Family Programs/Services Student Volunteer InternAt — A Place Called Home

The APCH Youth & Family Programs/Services Student Volunteer Intern is a role that will uphold responsibilities to directly support the delivery and facilitation of A Place Called Home's youth-and-family-serving programs, services, special initiatives and events.

The student's primary responsibilities will be:

• Supporting class preparation, facilitation and cleanup; learning and curriculum objectives; and youth engagement, guidance and supervision in programming developed and led by APCH's Culinary Arts and Counseling programs
• Supporting project preparation, facilitation and cleanup and APCH volunteer/partner engagement, guidance and stewardship for an initiative that is led by APCH's Food Services, Case Management and Volunteer programs to address food insecurity among APCH families

As needed, the student will support youth engagement, guidance and supervision in other program spaces.

As desired (to experience other aspects of APCH and/or ensure completion of the hours required by the course aligned with the student's volunteer internship), the student will support special projects and events that celebrate the APCH community and programs and/or provide resources for South Central community members.

Task:

• In partnership with APCH's Culinary Arts and Counseling program staff: supporting setup and preparation of supplies and spaces before classes/activities, and cleanup/reset of supplies and spaces after classes/activities
• In partnership with APCH's Culinary Arts and Counseling program staff: supporting delivery of curriculum and facilitation of classes/activities to help achieve desired learning outcomes for APCH youth and promote positive, active enagement
• In partnership with APCH's Food Services, Case Management and Volunteer program staff: supporting setup and preparation of supplies and spaces before the Family Resource Depot grocery project, and cleanup/reset of supplies and spaces after the project
• In partnership with APCH staff: providing consistent, active supervision of APCH youth in class/activity spaces
• When needed, intervening to redirect APCH youth whose behavior is not i alignment with APCH's Community Agreements
• In partnership with APCH's staff: helping greet, guide and engage volunteers/supporters and families during APCH projects and events
• Within classrooms/activity spaces, take initiative and lead with positivity, motivation and patience

• APCH Volunteer Orientation + Member Engagement & Supervision Training
• CA Mandated Reporter Training for Volunteers
• Training for processes and safety for APCH's \\Family Resource Depot\\ project
• Ongoing guidance, feedback, and direction from APCH program staff before, during and after APCH program class sessions

Learning Outcome:

• Develop and strengthen communication skills and relationship-building with a diverse array of constituents including APCH youth, families, staff, volunteers and supporters
• Exercise accountability, initiative and leadership to support curriculum delivery, activity facilitation and achieving learning objectives in a classroom setting
• Guide and encourage elementary and middle-school-aged with consistency, positivity and patience
• Understand, organize and help manage project logistics and flow
