By the end of the internship, the student will be able to:

• Design and Implement Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP): Create and execute lesson plans that align with specific cognitive, social-emotional, and physical milestones for children aged 2–11.
• Execute Positive Guidance Techniques: Apply evidence-based behavior management strategies, such as redirection, \\time-ins,\\ and conflict resolution modeling, to foster a prosocial classroom environment.
• Perform Systematic Child Observations: Utilize tools like anecdotal records or frequency counts to document individual child progress and use that data to differentiate instruction.
• Facilitate Health and Safety Compliance: Maintain a classroom environment that adheres to state licensing regulations, including proper sanitization protocols and active supervision techniques during transitions.
• Bridge Home-School Connections: Demonstrate professional communication skills by articulating a child's daily progress and developmental wins to families during pick-up or via digital engagement platforms.

To help the student achieve their learning outcomes, we will:

1. Mentorship & Instructional Modeling

We will provide a model of instruction. During the first two weeks, the intern will engage in active observation, shadowing our transitions and small-group interactions. By mid-term, we will co-teach specific segments (e.g., Circle Time), providing immediate \\in-the-moment\\ verbal cues to help them refine their pacing and tone.

1. Structured Feedback and Evaluation

• Weekly One-on-One Meetings: We will meet every Friday for 10 minutes to discuss the \\Success of the Week\\ and one specific \\Growth Area.\\ This is a dedicated space to connect classroom theory to real-world applications.
• Formal Observations: We will conduct a formal written evaluation (mid-term and final). These will be followed by a sit-down debrief to review their performance against the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) standards.

1. Reflective Practice and Goal Setting

We will require the intern to keep a weekly Reflective Journal. During our check-ins, I will provide written feedback on these entries to help them process difficult classroom scenarios, such as managing high-energy behaviors or supporting a child with separation anxiety.

1. Collaborative Planning

To develop their curriculum skills, we will include the student in our monthly lead-teacher planning sessions. We will provide direct instruction on how to use our center's assessment data to choose activities that challenge the children without causing frustration.
