Opportunity Summary 

The Operational & Sales Intern will gain applied experience in business operations, sales, customer engagement, and organizational effectiveness within a boutique fitness and Pilates environment. The student will apply psychological concepts related to motivation, communication, decision-making, customer behavior, teamwork, and workplace performance. Responsibilities will include supporting operational processes, analyzing sales and engagement data, observing workplace and customer behaviors, assisting with process improvements, and developing recommendations to improve organizational and customer outcomes. The internship is designed to provide practical exposure to Industrial-Organizational Psychology concepts in a real-world business setting.

Tasks:

Support daily business operations, workflow coordination, scheduling, and process organization.
Assist with sales activities, including lead follow-up, client communication, membership inquiries, and customer engagement strategies.
Track and analyze sales, customer engagement, retention, and operational data.
Observe customer and workplace behaviors and identify patterns relevant to motivation, communication, and organizational effectiveness.
Evaluate customer experiences and identify opportunities to improve engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
Assist in identifying operational inefficiencies and developing recommendations for process improvement.
Observe team communication and workplace dynamics and connect observations to I/O psychology concepts.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions regarding operations, performance, customer experience, and organizational effectiveness.
Assist with projects designed to improve sales processes, customer engagement, employee/team functioning, or operational efficiency.
Apply psychological concepts related to motivation, decision-making, behavioral reinforcement, communication, and teamwork to assigned workplace projects.
Prepare summaries, observations, data findings, and recommendations for the supervisor.
Meet regularly with the supervisor to review performance, discuss challenges, and evaluate progress toward learning outcomes.

Training:

The student will receive an initial orientation covering TZONE's workplace policies, operations, safety procedures, systems, customer service standards, and sales processes. Training will include job shadowing, hands-on instruction, review of relevant workplace materials, and guided practice. The supervisor will provide ongoing coaching and feedback, with a scheduled weekly one-on-one meeting to review progress, discuss workplace observations, connect experiences to psychological concepts, and identify areas for professional development. The student will also receive guidance on assigned projects, data interpretation, and applying I/O psychology concepts to workplace situations.
