Opportunity Summary

Students will work alongside Kidokinetics coaches to support sports, movement, and physical activity programs for children in preschool, elementary school, homeschool, and community settings throughout San Diego County. Students will assist with activities, equipment setup, demonstrations, child engagement, transitions, and age-appropriate instruction while gaining hands-on experience in child development, teaching, leadership, communication, classroom management, and physical activity programming. Opportunities may also include inclusive and adaptive programming for children with varying abilities.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes

Students will gain hands-on experience working with children in structured sports and enrichment programs. They will develop skills in communication, leadership, age-appropriate instruction, classroom and group management, motor skill development, activity adaptation, teamwork, and creating positive and inclusive learning environments.

Opportunity Training

Students will receive a Kidokinetics orientation covering program expectations, child safety, professional conduct, class structure, equipment use, activity facilitation, and site-specific procedures. Students will also complete required background clearance and applicable pre-placement training, including mandated reporter training, prior to working with children.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity

Students will work with children in active sports and movement-based programs. Activities may involve running, sports equipment, and normal physical activity. Students will complete required background clearance and mandated reporter training prior to placement, receive program and site-specific safety guidance, and work alongside Kidokinetics staff rather than independently supervising children.

Opportunity Application Instructions

Interested students should contact Kidokinetics to discuss availability, course requirements, interests, and potential placement locations.
