Alexandria Avenue School is a pre-kindergarten through fifth grade single track elementary school located in the East Hollywood area. Alexandria Avenue School is in a community that is experiencing gentrification. As housing prices have risen and new school have opened, school enrollment has dropped. In the past five years, our school has lost more than half of its enrollment, shrinking in size from nearly 1800 students to our current enrollment of 794.

Our students come from various backgrounds: 90% are Latino, 2% Filipino, 4% Asian, 1% African-American, 1% Caucasian. Our school participates in school-wide Title I: 88% of students are considered to be economically disadvantaged; 58% of our students are classified as English Learners.
