The student-faculty ratio is 10 to 1 and the average class size is 9.5. 36% of Winston's students are girls. The Winston School was founded in 1988 by a group of visionary pediatricians, led by Dr. John Richards, and parents in the San Diego, California area who realized that the needs of many bright children who learned differently were not being met in traditional settings. Mission: The Winston School inspires hope and success in bright, creative students who have struggled to realize their potential. We are UNIQUE We celebrate diversity, including a mix of San Diego students who learn in different ways and at different paces. We recognize that students have strengths, understanding and passion in particular areas. We understand students find some academic skills very challenging but may be advanced in others.
