Program Information Maxcare Hospice is a hospice and palliative care provider based in Westminster, California, founded in 2009, serving patients across Orange County, Los Angeles County, and the Inland Empire. What will interns actually be doing?
This is a hands-on, rotational internship across departments like Medical Records/QAPI, Intake, Billing, Social Services, Bereavement, Volunteer Services, HR, and Digital Marketing. Since Maxcare is a CMS-regulated hospice, interns are onboarded as trained hospice volunteers, which includes an interview, background check, TB test, and required training modules.
Typical tasks include: joining interdisciplinary team meetings, assisting with records audits, checking in on homebound and bereaved families by phone, supporting intake eligibility checks, joining patient visits, helping plan community events, writing newsletters, and assisting HR with onboarding. All work is logged in HospiceMD, their medical software.
By the end, interns should understand how hospice care works, how departments coordinate to deliver end-of-life care, and gain practical skills in communication, time management, and office/EMR software.
