CEDC - Valle Naranjal Apartments

Organization Description

To provide comprehensive housing services, through a community-building approach, that facilitate self-sufficiency for individuals and families who are most lacking in opportunity in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties and adjacent areas in Los Angeles county.

Health & Safety

Depending on the site selected, some of our residents may be younger than 12, therefore we want to ensure safety protocols are followed and that the student has a background check to interact with children under supervision. Additionally, we also want the students to be aware that we also serve special needs populations that are behaviorally challenged. While the student will not be expected to work with them on a 1:1 basis, they may enter the community room to ask a question, so there could be some exposure to this element. We serve previously homeless veterans and some may exhibit PTSD or other behavioral challenges.

If students attend an evening meeting at one of our properties, we always encourage using the "buddy system" when returning to your vehicle. While we have never had any violent acts or criminal activities occur, it is always best to exercise caution in the evening. All of our properties are well lit and in safe spaces; nonetheless, we always encourage staff and volunteers to be careful.
