Program Information Oscar & Ma is a unique entity in the nonprofit world. Our Workforce Development Program is a twelve-month life and job skills training platform that helps people with barriers to employment to achieve social and financial independence. \r\n\r\n\r\nRooted in Maslow\u2019s hierarchy of needs, our workforce training program helps participants, including those who have experienced homelessness, incarceration, domestic violence, involvement with the foster care system, and/or involvement with immigration services, address their basic needs, build their skills and confidence, and gain work experience as they progress through the training.\r\n\r\n\r\nTo enable on-the-job training for our clients, Oscar & Ma also operates a social enterprise that provides event management services for nonprofit and corporate organizations. These events provided paid opportunities for Academy Program participants interested in event planning, administrative work, and video creation.\r\n\r\n\r\nOscar & Ma has established a strong partner network that facilitates referrals to and from our job skills program. We have recently signed a 5-year contract with CalOptima to provide day habilitation and job training in Orange County. Local organizations that send clients to Oscar & Ma for job training include the HUB Resource Center, Casa Teresa, Thomas House Shelter, and Tiyya Foundation. We also provide participants with referrals to jobs at Chrysalis and Hope Builders.
