The Restorative Justice Education Center
The Restorative Justice Education Center (RJEC) is a community-based nonprofit dedicated to supporting immigrant and underserved families across Santa Barbara County. We provide essential resources, food security, legal preparedness, educational outreach, and culturally rooted support to help families thrive with dignity and safety.
RJEC primarily serves immigrant and mixed-status families, low-income households, and individuals experiencing crisis or barriers to basic needs. Students will interact with families receiving food assistance, community resources, and outreach support. RISK – Behavioral Challenges Students may occasionally interact with individuals experiencing stress, trauma, or crisis-related behavioral challenges. All volunteers receive guidance on maintaining professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and appropriate boundaries. RISK – Criminal Background RJEC serves community members from a wide range of backgrounds. Some individuals may have prior legal or criminal histories; however, volunteers are not placed in situations involving known violent behavior. All volunteer roles are non-clinical, supervised, and focused on resource distribution and community support. SAFETY – No Photos/Video For the privacy and safety of the families we serve, students are not permitted to take photos or videos while onsite or during any volunteer activity. This policy is strictly enforced.
