Urban Street Angels
Founded in 2012, we are a San Diego–based 501(c)(3) dedicated to supporting homeless youth through supportive housing, peer support, mentorship, mental health services, and job-training programs. We believe rebuilding a young person’s life requires consistent care and trust, and our team works daily to create safety, stability, and a path toward lasting independence. Our approach focuses on placing youth in secure environments and helping them build the skills needed for long-term success. Through this model, transition-aged youth are able to transform their lives and move toward a hopeful, sustainable future.
Students in this placement will work with Transitional Age Youth (TAY), ages 18–24, who are considered a vulnerable population due to experiences with homelessness, trauma, mental health challenges, substance use, and limited support systems. Some youth may also be connected to foster care, probation, or regional center services, requiring added sensitivity and care. Students will not work with minors; all participants are legal adults. Students will never be solely responsible for participant safety or crisis response. They will always be on site with trained staff who can intervene or provide immediate guidance. While brief one-on-one interactions may occur, they will only take place in open, visible common areas with staff present. Students will never work alone or be expected to handle emergencies or escalations independently. Clear safety protocols and ongoing staff support ensure a safe, structured, and well-supervised experience.
