Partner with the San José State University

Thank you for your interest in partnering with San José State University (SJSU).  Completion of this form enables us to learn more about your organization and the off-campus learning experiences you would like to make available to students enrolled in SJSU experiential learning courses.

Experiential learning is the application of academic content to real-world experiences, either within the classroom, within the community, or within the workplace, which advances program or course-based learning outcomes.  It has many forms including those defined below.

  • Service-learning courses provide students with opportunities to participate in organized service activities with non-profit, educational, social service, and government agencies that meet community needs while linking the service experiences to the course content.  Reflection and integration assignments are key aspects of these courses and make service-learning a different experience than community service.
  • Internships (and fieldwork) for academic credit are defined as a closely monitored, structured, and defined project specific opportunities that provide professional work experience outside of the classroom environment. An internship merges academic and career exploration.

This form is to be completed by a representative of a community-based organization (CBO) who seeks to partner with SJSU experiential learning courses. The person completing this form should be familiar with the learning activities SJSU students will be engaged in as well as CBO safety policies and procedures. The information submitted in this form will be used to create a site within this database for SJSU community members associated with experiential learning classes.

After this form is submitted, SJSU staff will review the information and send the University Organization Agreement (UOA) to the person listed as the Main Contact.  An authorized signer from the agency seeking to partner with SJSU must sign the UOA.  The site will be activated once the UOA is finalized.
