Opportunity Summary 

Position Description

  • Develop and execute an implementation work plan outlining objectives, strategies, and tactics supporting the National Youth Strategy and regional youth engagement priorities.
  • Set realistic targets and focus on delivering results in four key areas of youth engagement: Volunteerism, Blood Donors, Fundraising, Learning 
  • Proactively identify and respond to challenges impacting the youth engagement priorities.
  • Build a culture that supports youth engagement with the Red Cross mission.
  • Communicate Red Cross policies and opportunities to youth and youth engagement volunteers.
  • Identify roles for youth and young adult volunteers, delegate, and mentor in a supportive manner.
  • Assist in the planning of annual Leadership Development Camp (held every Fall)
  • Manage Regional Youth Council
  • Oversee Red Cross Club program 

Daily tasks include:

  • Check youth application queue and process new members
  • Pull volunteer hours reports
  • Contact Red Cross club officers to ensure hours and activities align with organizational goals
  • Plan youth leadership development activities (in collaboration with youth leaders)
  • Assist Youth Program Coordinator with additional administrative needs

Learning Objectives and Outcomes

  • Develop program coordination and project management experience.
  • Apply youth development strategies to program development.
  • Mentor & coach high school youth leaders to improve their leadership capacity.
  • Learn a new customer relationship management (CRM) software called Volunteer Connection.
     

Desired Qualifications

Availability during business hours, Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm for in-office shifts

Length of position: 16 weeks or longer

Hours per week: 4 hours per week or more if needed
