CovEducation (or “CovEd”) is a community of undergraduates, postgraduates, students and educators from colleges and universities across the U.S. who are interested in supporting K-12 students in light of the pandemic. We created a free virtual platform for pairing mentors from higher education institutions with K-12 students affected by school closures. We are also working to compile free, web-based educational resources for students, families, and educators, as well as partner with schools and other non-profits to improve the learning experience of K-12 students.

Emily Shane Foundation

2893 Searidge St, Malibu, 90265

The Emily Shane Foundation’s mission is to empower local, underserved students to thrive in middle school and beyond. We offer individualized academic coaching and mentorship and work hard to build positive relationships to maximize future opportunities.

At the Emily Shane Foundation, we believe that inside every student, there is infinite potential. We also understand that life is inherently complicated. Many families face challenging circumstances that can be limiting and, at times, feel impossible for our youth.

It’s for that reason we founded our signature SEA Program. The Successful Educational Achievement Program targets students who face academic struggles and are most at risk of “falling through the cracks”. We offer individualized academic coaching and mentorship to those who could not otherwise afford this necessary support to pave the way to our students’ best academic and personal potential.

Embracing our foundation’s “Pass it Forward” motto, students are requested to perform a good deed or act of kindness for every SEA Program session. Our aim is for these youth to embed this concept into their everyday lives, and acquire a social consciousness.

With every interaction, we strive to inspire deep, personal change that further develops our students into contributing and compassionate members of society.

In Ventura County, the Emily Shane Foundation currently serves Ocean View Junior High School (Oxnard), Rio Del Valle Middle School (Oxnard), and Colina Middle School (Thousand Oaks).
