School on Wheels

Organization Description

The mission of School on Wheels is to enhance the educational opportunities of children experiencing homelessness from kindergarten to twelfth grade. The goal is to shrink the gaps in the education of these children so they can overcome the challenges of their experiences. School on Wheels is dedicated to providing quality educational assistance, through one on one tutoring, to children who live in shelters, motels, foster residential homes, vehicles, or on the street.

Health & Safety

Students may park in front of building, then knock on door to be let in. Training and orientation will be provided.

POPULATION SERVED

  • Students may be working with children or families with behavioral challenges, and possibly with people that have a history of violent behavior.

LEARNING SITE LOCATION

  • The location is described as a high crime area. A secruity guard is on the premises at all times and the front door to the office is locked. Students will be with a site supervisor while at the site location.

  • Background Check (e.g. fingerprinting/livescan, driving record)
  • Must be 18 or older
