Catholic Charities of LA - OASIS [inactive]
The goal of OASIS (Older Adult Services and Intervention System) is to help people over the age of 60 remain independent and continue to live safely in their homes. We are sponsored by Catholic Charities and offer assistance to all persons regardless of race, religion or income level. All of our services are free. We are funded by various foundations, both public and private, but constantly seek out funds to maintain the program.
Initially, OASIS provides a Client Resource Coordinator to visit and assess the needs of the senior and make appropriate recommendations and referrals. Through grants, OASIS is able to provide safety items such as grab bars and ramps for those unable to afford to install them. Although OASIS does not offer domestic help, we do connect our clients with available resources for limited housekeeping and personal care. These agencies explain their services and costs to the client. We sometimes have grant money available for these services for people who cannot afford it.
OASIS is able to support seniors in the community through the substantial help of volunteers. OASIS has several categories of volunteers who cheerfully give their time to assist seniors.
