Organization Description

Turning Point Foundation is a VC non-profit building a healthier community by offering compassionate and proactive services for adults struggling with mental illness. Turning Point has 17 programs across 14 locations throughout Ventura County. We have housing, mental wellness, and supported employment programs. Growing Works is a wholesale plant nursery and mental wellness program that provides employment, volunteer opportunities, recovery services and community to its members. Since our inception in 2018 we have served over 500 adults in their recovery. We sell to customers from LA to Solvang.

HIPAA is enforced for all volunteers and service-learning students.

Photography of program participants and disclosure of their identity is prohibited by HIPAA law.

Adults in recovery from severe mental illness. NOTE: all clients are securely housed, receiving services from Ventura County Behavior Health, are food secure and medication compliant. We have never had a violent incident at Growing Works.

Additional requirements and/or considerations
  • RISK: Students may be working with behaviorally challenged populations.
  • RISK: Students may be working with individuals who have a known criminal background or history of violent behavior.
  • SAFETY: Students are NOT PERMITTED to take photos or video while on site.
