Opportunity Summary 

Working with History faculty in the Social Studies Department at Fremont High School, the teaching intern will attend, in person, at least one class meeting per week during one academic year semester to support student content-learning and collaboration in 11th grade United States History and 11th grade Advanced Placement United States History courses. The teaching intern will assist in the development of historical thinking skills through active or applied learning among students, drawing upon inclusive pedagogies. The teaching intern will facilitate team-based learning activities and provide individualized in-class support for students. Teaching interns will be expected to prepare in advance for classroom activities and subject matter, in consultation with Fremont High School history faculty.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

During the internship semester, in addition to supporting the lead faculty member at Fremont High School, the teaching intern will design and facilitate two substantial learning activities, developed in consultation with the lead instructor at Fremont High School.

Opportunity Training 

Pre-placement site orientation. Attendance at weekly Fremont HS history department meetings if available.
