Recreation Therapy 600 hour internshipAt — College Hospital Costa Mesa
Our site prides itself on providing an excellent internship experience, preparing students to be employed as Recreation Therapists at the end of their internship. Students have an opportunity to work with 10 different recreation therapists and complete all the tasks required of a Recreation Therapist.
By the end of the internship, students will have learned how to complete patient assessment, using interview, observation, and chart review. Students will have mastered the electronic medical record and completed screenings, group progress notes, patient education, and treatment plans. Students will be trained to develop group content and facilitate therapeutic groups.
Students will receive management of assaultive behavior training, CPR training, Training to navigate the electronic medical record, training on the completion of screening forms, group progress notes, pt education form, and treatment plans. In addition, training and supervision regarding developing group content and leading therapeutic groups, including processing experiences and documentation.
Safety is our number one priority. Responsibility is given incrementally, and safety training regarding management of assaultive behavior, contraband, and self-injurious behavior is provided.
