Opportunity Summary 

CSUEB student will have the opportunity to work with medically fragile, intellectually impaired, and physically disabled children that are apart of the foster care system. The student will provide respite care to the children while organizing events and recreationally activities. The student will help the children become active and positive members of the community.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

The CSUEB student will learn how to work with individuals with a wide range of intellectual disabilities, physical challenges, and medically fragile conditions that may limit their participation in activities. The student will learn about individuals with different ethnicities and cultural beliefs. The student will learn how to engage this unique population into community events and recreation.

Opportunity Training 

The CSUEB student will have to have 40 hours of on-site orientation, fingerprinting, and CPR/First Aid certified. There will be supervision when student is organizing recreational activities and community events.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

All Covid precautions are taken to ensure the limit of exposure to the CSUEB student and the care home residents.
