Join our amazing team to support children or adults with developmental disabilities. Our recreation therapy internship allows students the opportunity to work hands on in our program supporting our clients and participants, developing curriculum, case studies, complete APIE process and prepare for the NCTRC Exam. Students will have an opportunity to assist with community integrations and outings and focus on areas of interest.
-How to prepare for NCTRC Exam
-Provided professional opportunities to observe, participate in all aspects of therapeutic recreation (including but not limited to; assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, documentation and relationships)
-Provided professional opportunities to observe, participate in all aspects of administration (including but limited to; program development, marketing, public relations, outreach, fundraising, special events )
-Each intern will be given the opportunity to gain experience in the job tasks and knowledge areas of a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, as outlined by NCTRC Job Task Analysis
Training is provided for all interns which includes but not limited to, organization overview and training, program specific training and overview, introduction to policies and procedures, observations, this takes typically 2 weeks
