Intern as an immigration paralegal and work with LGBTQ asylum seekers! Are you bilingual in Spanish/Portuguese and English? Do you have a passion for human rights? Are you interested in going to law school one day? Looking to build your resume with internship experience? Come intern as an immigration paralegal with Oasis Legal Services. As an immigration paralegal intern, you will be working in our affirmative asylum program assisting in country conditions research as well as serving as an interpreter for our pro bono representatives.
At the end of the placement students will have gained experience working as an immigration paralegal and interpreting in a professional setting. They will have a better understanding of asylum law and knowledge about the treatment of LGBTQ people in different countries.
Students placed at our organization will be provided training on asylum law basics and country conditions research as well as training on trauma informed interpreting.
Our organization has in place covid office protocols. For those coming into the office, we are requiring people to be fully vaccinated and boosted (depending on your original vaccine date) against COVID or show proof of an exception under the ADA or for religious reasons. Please note that for the time being all student placements will be fully remote.
