Opportunity Summary 

Our Sports Equity Interns are motivated college students or recent graduates who are looking for a unique opportunity to gain meaningful work experience contributing to community projects that address the sports equity gap and promote positive youth development. Interns will be a part of PCA’s Community Impact Department where we focus on shifting systems, recruiting and training coaches, building capacity for sports-based youth development providers, and influencing key stakeholders. Reporting directly to the Community Engagement Director in their geographical area, the Sports Equity Intern supports initiatives through research, administrative coordination, and on-site assistance with community stakeholders and PCA partners.

Opportunity Training 

Students will provided with an overview of our program offerings and the specific assignments associate with executing on them (i.e. email responses, sit coordination, meeting/material prep). Students will be provided on the research approach to an assignment (i.e. the number of sports program in an area, the number of city funds dedicated to youth, potential partners and sources of volunteer coaches). Students will be coached through documenting a successful meeting through photos and a summary and participate in drafting communication. Students will be coached on how to effectively recruit coaches and learn about key elements to successful community outreach.
