Opportunity Summary 

Business Team Coaches support high school students in the classroom as they create a business, pitch their ideas, work on prototyping of their product, and develop a marketing and sales plan. Teachers implement the BUILD curriculum in the classroom, and volunteers will support students as they develop their business projects.

 
This opportunity will take place during the spring semester, 2025  and will last from late January – May.  Volunteers will work with students 1-2 times per month during school hours, with each classroom session lasting from 1-2 hours depending on the school.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

How to work effectively with diverse high school students from under-resourced schools, how to support students as they learn how to BUILD a business and work on soft skills in order to prepare for college and career.
 

Opportunity Training 

Students will receive a virtual training before starting their work with student teams, and will be given additional training during the school year.
 

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

Students need to have transportation to the school site in East Oakland or Redwood City. Students need to get a background check done which is required by the schools. Students will be provided tools and guidelines for working with high school students.
