There are 8.5 million youth between 5 and 17 years old in California alone. Let’s close the gap between children who need and want mentors and those who have them. Opportunity Training 

We have multiple trainings for this role, including:

-What is an academic mentor

-Confidentiality -Academic mentor basics

-Active listening and difficult conversations

-LGBTQ youth

-Goal setting

-Trauma-informed

-Building trust and relationships with mentees

-Planning Mentor Meetings & Creating Routine

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

The students will be mentoring from home, so it should be a safe environment, but we will make sure to train our mentors in case of need and have a staff member on call as needed.
