Opportunity Summary 

SFT Construction is offering an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer Intern to gain hands-on experience in the construction industry. Interns will work alongside experienced engineers and project managers on public works, seismic retrofit, and infrastructure projects. Responsibilities include assisting with project documentation, submittals, cost tracking, schedule monitoring, and field coordination. Students will gain exposure to construction management processes, quality control, safety compliance, and client communication. This role provides a dynamic learning environment where academic knowledge is applied to real-world projects, fostering problem-solving, teamwork, and professional skills. Candidates will have the opportunity to observe project execution from planning through completion, contributing to meaningful community infrastructure improvements.

Opportunity Training 

tudents will receive an initial orientation covering company policies, safety procedures, and project-specific requirements. Training will include instruction on construction project management software, documentation standards, submittal processes, and field observation techniques. Mentorship will be provided by senior engineers to guide students in applying technical knowledge to real-world projects. Estimated training duration: 1 week initial onboarding with ongoing skill development throughout the internship.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

All interns must follow SFT Construction’s safety protocols and OSHA regulations. Required PPE includes hard hats, safety vests, gloves, and protective footwear when on job sites. Safety orientation will be provided before any site visits. Interns must remain in designated areas, follow supervisor instructions, and immediately report hazards or incidents. Office work is conducted in a safe, professional environment.
